An 1803 serial No. 2 Kongelige Gronlandske Handel one rigsdaler P-A4 in Fine-Very Fine brought $29,500 in Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio’s sale of world paper money, Jan. 9, in conjunction with the New York International Numismatic Convention. The rare Greenland one rigsdaler was part of the “Bruce Levy Collection of Greenland’s Paper Money, 1803-1967,” which was considered one of the most comprehensive collections of Greenland bank notes to cross the auction block, and this specimen was cataloged as “arguably the first issued Greenlandic note to survive.” ...
